ABOUT
The Sonata for Flute and Harp Op. 56 was commissioned by the Sparx duo and premiered by them on February 14th, 1997 at the University of Delaware. The Sonata is in one movement and of an atypically somber cast. In an arc-like form, slow music flanks a central scherzo-like Allegro. Towards the end of the work the composer references one of his other compositions, a childhood piece called "Rainy Day" which is found in his "Album for the Young."
