ABOUT
The Sonata for Cello and Piano No.2, Op.3 was written in 1978 when the composer was 17 years old. It is a one-movement work comprised of three short sections. The first is a rhapsodic introduction that leads to a fast and angular middle section. Following a short cadenza, the final lyric section brings back elements heard earlier in the piece. The Sonata was premiered in the year of its composition by cellist Linda Kruger with the composer at the piano. In 1982 the composer made a version of this work with chamber orchestra, the Concertino for Cello and Chamber Orchestra Op.8.
